I have often felt like I am the most conflicted person alive.
I have the uncanny ability to see most arguments from all sides, and truly understand where people are coming from. I often have very strong opinions on both sides of the same argument. It’s a blessing and a curse. It’s hard to take a stand on anything, but I feel like it makes me a good compromiser when it’s needed. It also makes me a textbook swing voter.
I’m generally a very laid back person. There aren’t many things that get me "riled up". Most of the time I think the media blows things way out of proportion. Everyday citizens are guilty of that as well. Therefore, I take almost everything I read, see, or hear with a grain of salt. I like to look at the bigger picture, and make up my own mind. I never let some newscaster or reporter make up my mind for me. I consider myself a something of a free-thinker.
I started this site as a way to express myself on current events, but I dream of it becoming much more.
Ultimately, I’d like to see swing-vote.com become a collection of non-partisan voices, even if we all are swing voters for different reasons. By nature, being a self-proclaimed swing voter means you don’t fall in line with either party on all issues. We can all be swing voters for different reasons, so my voice alone can’t represent us all.
I think it would be great if politicians (or more likely their staffs) start browsing the submissions here to get a sense of what drives non-partisan, reasonable Americans who haven’t resigned to either major political party. After all, politicians are always looking for the swing vote at election time.
So if you think you are like me, and you have something to say, send me an article. I’m always looking for more voices. If you just want to read my ramblings, you are more than welcome to do that as well.
On the other hand, if I’m the only one, and swing-vote.com turns out to be just a site for me to post opinions that never get read, at least I get to vent, so that’s OK too.
Thanks for visiting!
